Happy 2nd Birthday Ava & Connor
'Farm Yard' was the theme for the twins 2nd birthday party and its all about cake. Well at least for the twins. When they hear the name Grandma, Ava immediately say's "Grandma cake". Once she arrives at our home and she's done her 'I'm so shy' routine for about 5 seconds, its straight to my side, takes my hand and leads me to the kitchen in search of cake. I do digress but they are pretty darn cute.
Back to the party now. As always Cait excels herself in the party throwing. This year was no exception. The day came complete with their very own John Deere cardboard tractor, piggy bean bag toss, hay bale horsy, and everyone dressed up for their day on the 'farm'.
Can you believe that the rocks on Connor's cake are chocolate!

Thanks to Maddie (12) once again for helping out with the cake. She made the animals for her nieces cake. |
I just can't believe they're 2 already. The great thing about this week is that I get to make a cake and matching cupcakes like Connor's all over again for a very special little boy who's turning 5!
My Little Pony Party
My Little Pony is the perfect birthday theme for this precious little one. Now I did need to call upon the fount of all 'My Little Pony Knowledge' to ensure that I was reasonably accurate with the 'cutie marks'. Cutie Marks you may ask? Yes, my Lucy can tell you each pony has their special marking and this is as essential as knowing that any good pirate wears an eye patch. The fondant toppers below are different cutie marks. Applejack, Twilight Sparkle..... That would be Fluttershy sitting up there on top of the cake.
Happy 7th Birthday
Australian School of Performing Arts, Film & Television

Last term Jess took a course at ASPAFTV. It was a 10 week course and she had loads of fun. The final afternoon the parents were welcomed in to watch the kids perform their individual and partnered pieces. These were filmed 'in front of a live audience' I guess you could say. Some of those young kids had spunk alright.

Happy Birthday From W.A.
This order was a very special one. A lovely lady contacted me some time ago to order a birthday surprise for a dear friend of hers. She was moving to Western Australia, which is quite literally the other side of the world or at least might as well be because it's as far away from Brisbane, Queensland as you can get. This meant she wouldn't be here for her dear friends birthday and wanted to have something special delivered to her on the night of her birthday. Needless to say she was very surprised. It's nice to be loved....
Happy Dr SUESS Day!
AAAAARRRRGGG Me Matey!!!!

This was so much fun to create a cake and cupcakes with a pirate theme. Cap'n Jackson was turning the very big 5 which we all know is a whole hand now so his mum ordered something special for him. The cake is a 14' x 14' square chocolate cake with buttercream. My girls had seen me make the fondant map then the next time they saw it it was in pieces. "what happened", stay calm I actually broke it myself.
Before I iced the cake I burrowed into the centre of it, carefully making a 'secret cave' in which to bury some hidden treasure. I popped the cake into its box and included this special scroll for Cap'n Jackson to read so he'd know to be on the look out when cutting the cake that there is some 'pirate booty' buried for him and his mates. Can't wait to see the photo's of the inside.
The fondant toppers I made in keeping with the pirate theme are rather cute. Fortunately they aren't particularly menacing pirates so I think we'll all be safe for another day.
So a very special happy birthday Cap'n Jackson
Savannah's Baby Shower
Well it was very fortuitous that the 2 Grandma's held the baby shower when they did. There was so much speculation on the night about how 'low' the baby was and some reminding that there was still 3 weeks worth of 'cooking' left. Savannah's Great Grandma wasn't having any of it and firmly told everyone that you could expect her arrival at any time. Sure enough not even 48 hours later Savannah arrived safe and sound and instantly surrounded by an abundance of love. Congratulations to you all.
No Ruffled Feathers Here
We were set the challenge to provide the birthday girl with a white chocolate mud cake, strawberry cream cheese frosting on the inside between the layers and covered with strawberry buttercream on the outside. They also ordered a dozen chocolate cupcakes with the same strawberry cream cheese frosting on those. Oh my goodness that was an amazing tasting cupcake and cake.

I hadn't narrowed down my most favourite recipe at that stage to after a few test runs I was able to come up with my winning recipe.
